Now, there is a retrofit module that uses the PCM63 DAC that drops right in, and with some op-amp changes, I guess it works. I purchased this unit before getting the infamous Processor 3 which IMHO is among the very best tube-based DAC. If you pay 450 for it, it should be an 4 star. Weakness: It does almost everything right but really nothing stands out. They apparently get these custom made, but with COVID and all the supply issues that come with it, its not looking good that they'll have anything in the near future. Strength: Musical, natural, could listen to it for hours. It has been very well cared for in a non-smoking environment. This unit is coming from the original owner in exceptional condition. Partsconnexion has them listed, but after a phone call to them they arent in stock. Offered today by The Music Room: One Sonic Frontiers TransDAC. The Ultra Analog DACs are no longer available. I have a couple paths I can take from here, but I wanted to see what you all thought. I've got a Sonic Frontiers SFD-1mkii that, after some troubleshooting, appears to have the Ultra Analog hybrid DAC going bad in it.
